Cameras, microscopes, telescopes and the ubiquitous binoculars all allow a person to explore the universe in new and (to me) fascinating ways. 

Here's where many expect me to write something like;

'and it isn't even expensive'

Try again because one persons inexpensive is another persons savings. I will say that if you are not interested in the equivalent of a Ferrari you can get nicely set-up for under one thousand American. Less if you feel lucky at the flea market. Plus there are multiple ways to get exposed to equipment and ideas. Local clubs, college courses, renting equipment and the list goes on.

So get out and explore. \All you have to lose is your ignorance.
