Do I Go For the High Moral Ground Or Do I Go Subversive ~ Where Wind And Tide Take My Thoughts ~ The View From The Cheap Seats

An old man lost ikn his thoughts is single handed sailing a sloop rigged skiff through fog.
Safety in solitude

Hi, think of this as a late-night conversation in a local dive. The lights are dim, the music is loud, and the chance of our conversation being monitored is almost zero percent.

We found a table where we could see the doors and sit with our backs to the wall. 'What do you want?' asked the waiter. 'Canada Dry, Coca-Cola, unopened bottles, no glasses.' We sat in silence until he returned with our order.

2 men in a dimly lit late night dive. They sit facing each other with their backs to the walls in a little nook. A quiet yet ntense conversation is gong on.
quietly conspiring

'I need some advice.' 'Okay.' 'I'm trying to get my message out ethically. Stay away from the oligarchs and their social media sites. I'm not monetizing. No damn fearmongering. But even my blogging platform is compromised. Google owns Blogger.com, and Google has bent the knee and become a Trumprumpster.' The waiter wandered by, and we shut up.

'I'm beginning to think that it makes sense to use the oligarchs' social media domination as a tool.' 'A tool?' 'Yup, a tool. They control the flow of information with their algorithms. What do you think might happen if I posted in a way that used their algorithms against them?' 'Well, you might be able to get your message out on their platforms. You'd have the potential to reach an ocean full of people.'

'Exactly. But would I lose the moral high ground? Or would I just be one devious SOB who found a way to beat the system?' 'Maybe a little of both.'

So, I leave it to you, my readers, to go away and ponder my predicament and then leave me a message in the comments. And please, no personal information. They can find it out if they want to, but it's like Death. He always wins eventually, but we don't have to make it easy for him.

Brian
