Proverbial Wisdom

Using a Fujifilm S4200 and a walking stick as a monopod I managed to capture this shot of a translucent green cricket. It was edited in Gimp

Back in the day, the Fujifilm S4200 was an entry level digital 'Bridge' camera. The S4200 had just enough bells and whistles to whet a newbie's appetite, with enough quality, to produce a great image once you learned how to get the maximum out of the camera.

I had owned the camera for nearly a year and had more than 5,000 images in the bank when I took this shot. It wasn't too long after this shot that I upgraded to a Sony Alpha a58.

I should also mention that this was cricket season, and I had been trying to get this quality of image for more than a week.

The S4200 taught me a simple lesson, the old proverb is right - a good carpenter doesn't blame their tools!
