Bedrock.

15 years ago, we built our cement house. Before the construction began the architect had his work crew dig down through the dirt until he found bedrock. He knew that if he could build on the bedrock the house would survive floods, storms, and with a little luck, some nasty super typhoons and earthquakes.

Confucius understood the same thing in relation to a nation and its integrity. The bedrock of any nation is the integrity of the home.

The upcoming series will explore how Judaism, Christianity, and Islam have attempted to dig through the dirt to find the bedrock family values needed to create a just society.
