Macro Philosophy: The Unexamined Life Is Not Worth Living (Socrates)

Philosophy is a big word like marmalade or peanut-butter. And as with any big word it is possible to define it in any number of ways. Here's mine: To ponder the Why of how we live. I don't know many people that ponder the why of the how. That may be why our world is in such a mess. Following tradition means more to most people than exploring the why of tradition. Which explains why there is nothing new under the sun.

Might I suggest that until we all begin to explore the why of our lives nothing except technology will change.  And while it is certainly true that technology may well kill every known life bearing planet in the universe it is also true that unless we change, it can never save us.

For until we understand the why we shall always apply technology in ways that destroy rather than in ways that enable.
