Hidden Away

This morning I stepped on the scales and found that I was down to 191 from  around 205. Checked my blood sugar and it was at ninety-three. My plan is working. As I lose weight (aiming for 160's) my blood sugar is lowering and hopefully stabilizing in the nineties. There's something quite satisfying in devising a plan and watching it work.

On a wholly different subject our little monster is no longer little. At almost four months old his paws land on my chest when he jumps up to be friendly. He's also weighing in at around thirty-five pounds. We're only guessing but it looks like we may end up with a massive Black and Tan Doberman in the seventy to eighty pound range. Thankfully he is very friendly and affectionate. That is unless you are a chicken, a chicken like bird, or a goose. He's also teachable. Having once bitten a toad he now gives them a wide birth. Lately he has begun to act like a guard dog. Sniffing, growling and using a range of barks to let us know something isn't kosher. Another satisfying example of a plan going well.

Yesterday Min transferred a whole bunch of tilapia from the upper pond which was way to crowded to the lower pond. This morning there were no dead fingerlings in either pond. Hopefully in the next three to five months we will start to eat our own fresh fish. As oily fish are excellent for both diabetes and dementia this is a good deal.

Another reason it's a good deal is that the Delta variant has arrived in our little island province. With a full hard lock-down (breaking the rules can get you shot dead) already in Manila it won't be long before added precautions are taken here. Fresh food will be both hard to find and expensive. Growing our own just makes good sense.

Talking about making good sense... apparently on a good day I still do make sense. I've gone through this minor epistle two or three times and I think it reads alright. Please let me know if it doesn't.
