WATER TANKS

When we first moved in there was a cement water tank across the road from us. At one side was an open low walled tank. The local children used it as a pool and the women used it for laundry. While our house was being built I'd use it to do dishes. Few houses had electricity and even fewer had running water. Indoor toilets? unheard of

Eventually the local government started hooking houses up to water and electricity. 1/4" water pipe and a 220V. electrical system that might on a good day supply 200V. But it was better than nothing.

Regrettably as new people moved in they would simply tap into an existing line rather than go to the expense and trouble of putting in a new line. The water is starting to thin out. Even our plumber can't keep a steady supply in his house.

Which is why today, we installed two new holding tanks. I don't mind being old and gray but I want my garden lush and green!

LEAKING BATHROOM WALL

The last rainy season was truly wet. I can't honestly say that it was the worst ever but it was seriously wet. Towards the end of it we noticed that in our bathroom a pool of water kept forming. What made it unusual was that there was no water damage to the wall. I should point out that our home is built into the sleeping volcano and that the bathroom wall has 3/4 of it's height buried.

So, we called in Dennice our plumber and he worked on every water connection that was close to the floor. The puddle kept forming.

Eventually the hot dry season arrived and the puddle disappeared. Apparently all of the rumbling has cracked our wall or, our foundation. Not much we can do about that. So, today Dennice cemented in the hole he had dug to check a connection but included a drain for the new rainy season.

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED

M'Lady has been questioning how I have been doing the vertical gardening. She believes that we should be less intensive and use a monocropping technique. After multiple fruitless and somewhat frustrating conversations' we have decided that she should have five containers to do it her way and I shall have five to do it my way. Winner take all.
