News From The Home Front With No Sugar Coating

Which in my case is a good thing!

The Life And Times Of Brian Waddington

Give or take 2 months ago I was seriously ill. Between the poor sleeping, irregular eating and no exercise my blood sugar went totally out of control. It spiked to 170. Since then it has been a challenge to get it back to where it belongs. However, in the last three days it has been 98 - 95 - 92. It looks like I have, with the help of M'Lady finally sorted things out.
  1. home-made healthy bread
  2. much less animal protein
  3. less cheese
  4. more greens
  5. regular sleep and exercise. (both dependent upon my MS)

The garden is doing extremely well.
  1. our squash are both delicious and well sized.
  2. we have both round (sweeter) and oblong shaped papaya. With 4 trees we are eating fresh fruit with some regularity
  3. our cabbage experiment is doing well. They are actually forming little cabbage balls.
  4. carrots are delicious though a tad on the tiny size.
  5. both our full-sized tomatoes and the cherry tomatoes are doing well.
  6. green onions galore.
  7. Bitter gourd are ripening nicely.
  8. the new planting of eggplant is coming along.
  9. we have Box turtles in residence in both ponds.
  10. lots and lots of leafy greens
Things have really improved since we have moved into vertical gardening in laundry baskets. We have 8 plants growing where before we would have only 1.

One of our ladies has decided to move on down the line. Here's hoping things work out for her.

All in all, it may not be a sweet life, but it is certainly a good one!

Brian
