Israel Has The Absolute Right To Go To War Against Hamas (I Condemn The Hamas Massacre)

 

But I'm not able to understand how the right to wage war against Hamas translates into the right to slaughter Palestinian women and children.

'Nearly 5,100 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip since Israel launched a relentless bombing campaign against the besieged enclave after an attack by Hamas inside Israel more than two weeks ago, according to health officials.

About 40 percent of the 5,087 people killed are children, Gaza’s Ministry of Health said on Monday, the day when Israel’s army said it carried out more than 300 new air attacks within 24 hours. Palestinian officials said more than 400 people were killed in that period.' (Aljazeera) 

Israel has stated that they have a need to utterly destroy Hamas. Fair enough they are a nasty bunch if ever there was one. 

The problem is that they are attempting to take out Hamas first with a savage bombing campaign and then they say they will move in the armor. That is not a good plan.

Members of Hamas are not just lounging around. Most if not all are deep underground in a tunnel complex that some believe stretches to 500 miles. The second problem is that tanks and heavy armored vehicles don't do well in a city that has been turned into rubble. The third problem, one which was taught over and over again in WW2 is that when you turn a city into rubble you make it easier for the defenders to set up killing zones and harder for the attackers to penetrate the city.

Israel, please allow this dumb old boy to offer an alternative. One that will limit the deaths of non-combatants and allow your warriors whatever glory may or may not be found in killing Hamas in close quarter fighting.    

Send in your special ops people to find the tunnels, free the hostages and kill Hamas. 

You get what you apparently need, and Palestinian babies don't get flattened in collapsing building or have their bodies incinerated with your pinpoint bombing.

A final thought which all sides need to ponder: every time you kill one of them you make new enemies out of their still alive relatives. That is no way to make peace. At best you might, just might make a temporary cease fire. A cease fire that will allow all sides to train and arm all of the new enemies you have made.
