AI Makes A Better Looking Cracker Than I Do But Mine Taste Pretty Darn Good (includes recipe)

Today was my first try at baking crackers. Turned out to be a simple process. Which is not to say that the basic recipe doesn't need some tweaking for our taste buds.

Today was my first try at baking crackers. Turned out to be a simple process. Which is not to say that the basic recipe doesn't need some tweaking for our taste buds.

The basic recipe is simply simple:

  • three cups flour (white, whole wheat, coconut... your choice).
  • 2 teaspoons salt.
  • 2 teaspoons sugar.
  • mix well!
  • add 1 cup more or less of water mixed with 4 tablespoons of olive oil (or coconut oil).
  • mix it to a firm consistency that doesn't stick to your fingers.
  • roll it out about the thickness of a saltine cracker. (really thin)
  • using a fork? poke holes in the individual crackers
  • flour the baking pan and crowd on the crackers.
  • lightly baste with water before putting in the oven and maybe add finely chopped herbs or nuts.
  • bake at 300F + or - for around 15 minutes on the low rack.
  • when they smell good and look right take them out and cool on a rack.

I'm thinking next time I will add some fried garlic bits?

This recipe can easily be cut in half if you want to experiment with a smaller batch.

My taste buds say yes to cheese or peanut butter, but others might like jam or jelly.
