Back In The Garden ~ Banana's

For my friends and family in the Great White North; we have almost as many varieties of Bananas as you do Apples.

That being the case and with us having some space in the garden, we've started planting bananas. We're going for four varieties. my favorite which is a yellow banana which when perfectly ripe tastes like vanilla custard. a red banana almost as good as the yellow custard banana. what is called a lakatan which looks and tastes a lot like a Chikita banana you can buy in Canada. cooking banana, which like its name suggests, needs to be cooked. Think, the ultimate sweet potato. This will not all happen overnight. But in 6 to 8 months, we may be eating home grown bananas. Brian PS: the image portrays how we will be harvesting them. Picked just before or as they begin to ripen and then hung up. They will ripen from the bottom up and as you walk past it is just so easy to reach up and pluck a taste of heaven. B.
