People Are Excellent At Twisting The Truth

In the first chapter of the first book of Jewish and Christian sacred literature we are told how we should see ourselves in relation to the rest of the world.

"Traditionally, the authority conveyed by the words “subdue” and “rule” in Genesis 1:28 is often interpreted as a form of stewardship and dominion over the natural world. Let’s break it down:

  1. Subdue (כָּבַשׁ, kabash):

    • This term implies bringing something under control, taming, or managing. It doesn’t suggest reckless exploitation but rather responsible stewardship.
    • Think of it as harnessing natural resources for beneficial purposes while respecting their balance and sustainability.
  2. Rule (רָדָה, radah):

    • This word signifies authority or dominion. However, it’s not an absolute or tyrannical authority.
    • Instead, it reflects the idea of responsible governance, akin to a wise ruler who cares for their subjects and the land.

In summary, these words emphasize humanity’s role as caretakers of creation, with the responsibility to use resources wisely, protect the environment, and ensure the well-being of all living things. It’s not about uncontrolled power like that of a monarch; rather, it’s about balanced and thoughtful management. 😊" (Copilot)

Our Doom
I don't believe that humanity must follow our evil impulses because of Adam or Eve. I do know that for most of us, if we are given a choice between the narrow gate and the wide gate most days we choose the wide gate.

Pre the Industrial Revolution (look it up) this predilection was not Earth shattering. However, once we multiplied humanities powers of destruction through science and technology the picture changed dramatically and quickly.

Massive damns, deforestation, nuclear weapons (tested and used), overpopulation, air and water pollution and a legion of other horrors have worked their evil. And all because Western Civilization chose to misunderstand the wisdom of the ages.

I wish, I truly do, that I could tell you that if we all come together and change how we think and live that things will quickly change back to where they should be. But I can't.

We have well and truly screwed things up. If we were to instantly change our thoughts and deeds it would take a minimum of 500 years for the damage we have done to begin to heal. And I have no idea how many centuries before we are back to pre-industrial revolution clean air and water and a population that can be sustained by local farming.

All I can tell you for now is "Change your ways, figure out how to survive and raise up your children as stewards instead of plunderers".
Karma is a bitch, we have sown the wind, and our children will pay the price to at least the third and fourth generation!
