Who Knew It Would Feel This Good

Hi, A while back, Min and I were talking about what to grow in the new vegetable garden setup. I mentioned sweet potatoes would be nice. Min agreed and since then she has planted about 10sqm of sweet potatoes. Yesterday we started the harvest.

November 27, 2024 Hi, A while back, Min and I were talking about what to grow in the new vegetable garden setup. I mentioned sweet potatoes would be nice. Min agreed and since then she has planted about 10sqm of sweet potatoes. Yesterday we started the harvest. As Min has staggered the planting, we should be, or perhaps I should say could be, harvesting these beauties for at least three months. Growing up, potatoes were a staple. Once M'lady and I returned to the Philippines, potatoes became less of a staple. We have tried many times in the past to grow potatoes, but for various reasons the hoped for bounty never materialized. This time, Min seems to have found the Midas Touch. She has also found another pepper plant that was hidden away in the corner of our nursery. If my memory serves me well? this brings our pepper plant count up to fifteen. They don't have quite the ballast of a sweet potato, but they do have flavor! A little cheese, a fresh crisp raw sweet pepper, a slice of homemade sourdough bread and a tasty lunch is served. I'm also thrilled with the ongong sightings of turtles around our ponds. They have ranged in size from one or two inches long to twelve to fifteen. This I take to mean that they are breeding in our little bit of wild. Now, if Min can just remember to get us some rose cuttings for our flower garden, I'll be in ecstasy. Nothing banks future good will for the coming minor errors in judgement quite like a fresh rose from the garden for M'lady. And I do believe that should wrap up this little note to friends and family, Brian
