Why I Live In The Cheap Seats

Friends, family and Especially Hong Kong, If you put in the effort, you can see what others miss. And once you've seen the missed you can never be controlled the way you once were

Friends, family and Especially Hong Kong,

If you put in the effort, you can see what others miss. And once you've seen the missed you can never be controlled the way you once were

Scholars talk of a 'close reading'. They use this technique to unwrap hidden meanings and mysteries from the written word that a quick reading just misses. I applied the same technique to a shard of glass on a bamboo post.

It's possible to use this technique in many ways. For me, the next step is equally interesting. Finding a way to express what I have found by my close reading. Which is what I tried to do with this rendering of a Hibiscus.
The Essence
It's possible to use this technique in many ways. For me, the next step is equally interesting. Finding a way to express what I have found by my close reading. Which is what I tried to do with this rendering of a Hibiscus.

One night, on a whim, I took out the same gear I used for macro and flower work and tried to get an image of Jupiter. I was mightily impressed when I saw the results: Jupiter and two of her moons, Callisto and Ganymede.

Until global warming increased the nightly cloud cover and a bad back made getting my camera set up a little too difficult, I kept up the wide field astrophotography, This image of the Small Sagittarius Star Cloud and the Lagoon Nebula (big blue spot, top right) is the image I am proudest of.

The point of this post, and I hope everyone can appreciate it, is that hanging out in the cheap seats, where I'm mostly ignored and can live my own life,  is what allowed all of these images to be created and shared.

Perhaps to really clarify the point, I'll add one more image. Please remember that it was taken with the same gear I used to capture the Small Sagittarius Star Cloud. This post really is all about you finding a way to do a deep reading of where you are and where you wish to be as we come closer to another New Year. A year with infinite possibilities if you will just see what is really out there.
