January 3, 2o025, Friends and family, Elon Musk just night be the conspiracy theory of conspiray theories come to terrifying life. Musk makes me go hmmmm One of my conceits is that I am a student of history. Another conceit is that I learn from history. Throughout history, conspiracy theories have flourished. From early Christians killing babies and drinking their blood to an unholy cabal of Jews ruling the world. But now and then something happens that looks ever so much like a conspiracy theory, but with one exceptionally important difference: It is true! As I see it from the cheap seats, Elon Musk just might be the latest now and then. Consider the following information researched by my ever present and usually correct librarian/research assistant, Copilot. "**Support for AfD in Germany:** 1. Elon Musk has openly endorsed Germany's far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, describing them as the "last spark of hope" for the nation. This has sparked significant controversy and criticism from German politicians and media. 2. German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck accused Musk of attempting to destabilize Europe by supporting a party that he claims would weaken the continent's regulatory framework. **Support for Tommy Robinson in the UK:** 1. Musk has called for the release of far-right activist Tommy Robinson, who is serving an 18-month prison sentence for contempt of court. Musk's support for Robinson has drawn criticism and concern from various political figures in the UK. 2. Musk's tweets about Robinson have garnered support from far-right figures and have reignited debates over freedom of speech and misinformation. **General Political Influence:** 1. Musk's involvement in politics extends beyond Germany and the UK. He has been a prominent supporter of Donald Trump and has used his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), to influence political discourse. 2. Critics argue that Musk's political activities raise questions about the influence of high-profile figures in political processes and the potential impact on democracy." ______________________________ As easy as falling down is how easy it would be to turn this 'Hmmmm' moment into a political conspiracy rant. Thankfully, it is just as easy not to! All that I know is that the world's richest man has decided for reasons that he sees as valid to become involved in politics not only in his country of choice but in various nations around the world. So far he has shown a preference for leaders who are openly authoritarian with a cult like following. (some would say that is seriously close to a fascist style of governance) He has just recently paid to get Trump elected and now has a dangerous(?) amount of political power in America. Is he trying to get the same power in Germany? I don't know, yet. Let's see what happens after the snap election in Germany. And then let us keep one eye on Musk's involvement in British, French, Italian and even Russian politics. Brian
