"Too much of nothin' can make a man feel ill at ease. One man's temper might rise, while the other man's temper might freeze. In the days of long confessions, we can not mock a soul. When there's too much of nothin', no one has control." Bob Dylan
The love of money is the root of all evil |
Today's world has way too much of nothin.
"According to the Credit Suisse Global Wealth Report, the world’s richest 1 percent, those with more than $1 million, own 44 percent of the world’s wealth. Their data also shows that adults with less than $10,000 in wealth make up 56.6 percent of the world’s population but hold less than 2 percent of global wealth. Individuals owning over $100,000 in assets make up less than 11 percent of the global population but own 82.8 percent of global wealth. Credit Suisse defines “wealth” as the value of a household’s financial assets plus real assets (principally housing), minus their debts."
These stats were gathered before C-19 made a bad thing worse. Look at the above numbers and let them sink in. Within them lie the answers to today's puzzling world.
Strong armed leaders are needed to control the market and the poor. Both to be controlled for the benefit of the rich.
The numbers explain why mass political protests are gathering momentum throughout the world. And why even in America the bastion of the poor and the oppressed the military is being called out to protect the powerful.
We, that means you and me have two choices:
- we can keep on keeping on and fighting for our ever shrinking piece of the pie
- we can start to live with wisdom and compassion.
I choose option two.
Option two means we can and will find a way to convince the 1% to start sharing. Okay I hear your 'oh yeah sure'. But wisdom and compassion will allow us to find a sharing path that offers them more benefits than the greedy path they now tread.
I choose option two because once we all have enough we can all live in true peace rather than in mere lack of violence.
I choose option two because in time it will create a nicer world.
What do you choose?
Brian
