 Here's the original straight out of the camera 1:1 magnification shot: If I was to print out the original it would be, in round numbers, 20 x 13 inches. In the center of the image, you can see the part of the image I concentrated on.

There is a technique in post processing called 'cropping' which is basically what you do when you take a pair of scissors to a printed picture. With the added advantage of being able to resize the cropped image. I resized it to, in round numbers, 6.5 x 3.5 inches. 

The reason was simple: that size nicely fits my blog. 

So Rick, maybe a better answer than 1:1 would be a magnification of about 4 x 1?
