The First Time We Tried This I Counted My Fingers

Rusty and I both enjoy exercise and challenges.

Black and tan Dobermans are smart and playful and boy oh boy do they need stimulating exercise..
Up!

Back in the day Cooper (a Red Doberman) and I would wander the mountain trails. Cooper could run free and explore to his hearts content. Old age has caught up with me. Cooper at 15 years old passed away.

Rusty a Black and Tan Doberman joined our pack. He's now 2 1/2 years old but because of my age he doesn't have the mountain trail option.

Thankfully our yard is big enough and varied enough to get him the needed exercise. Still and all he misses out on the mental stimulation.

So, the other day a twist was added to his exercise routine. I started him out sitting and responding to the command 'Up' by leaping into the air to snatch a container out of my hand. (Apologies for the baseball in the image but getting the proper container out of my AI was a bridge too far)

Once he was doing that without taking my fingers, I tried it while he was at a full gallop running around his track. He was fast approaching, holding the container as high as possible. I shouted 'Up'.

Rusty leapt into the air, soared past me and gently plucked the container from my fingers, which I quickly counted.

Good fun all around!
